Hyfah Hilou connects Northwest Ohio families with health and social services
This week we are spotlighting Hyfah Hilou, our chapter President and Director of Philanthropy and Business Development at the Health Council of Northwest Ohio. Her work helps people across the region find the support they need. She brings that same care to how she leads our chapter.
What Hyfah does
Hyfah holds the Non-Profits/Fundraising Organizations seat in our chapter. The Health Council of Northwest Ohio, known as HCNO, is a Toledo nonprofit that works to improve health and wellbeing across the region through community programs and partnerships.
As Director of Philanthropy and Business Development, Hyfah helps connect people in need with housing, insurance, food, and prenatal and perinatal resources. HCNO also offers planning, community health assessments, and evaluation services, and oversees disaster preparedness for an 18-county region.
Who Hyfah is
Hyfah serves as President of our chapter. Putting others first comes naturally to her, and she wants to help everyone she can. The goals she works toward at HCNO are clear. Help reduce infant mortality, bring emergency training to the community, and build a stronger village of support for all who need it.
How to refer Hyfah
If you hear someone say they are struggling to find housing, food, or health insurance, Hyfah can help connect them with services. If a friend or client is expecting a baby and unsure where to turn for support, think of her.
If you know a business owner who wants to give back locally, or a company looking to partner on community health, introduce them to Hyfah. Groups that need a community health assessment or strategic planning should also hear about HCNO.
Beyond the business
Hyfah is the mother of one daughter. Outside her role at HCNO, she is also a certified EMT and a level 1 firefighter. Those skills line up closely with the emergency training her organization hopes to bring to more people in the community.
